Behind the Scenes, Recording a Podcast and the Value of Protests

Behind the scenes photo of me while interviewing #sheroesofreno for this week's Our Town Reno podcast episode. Ive done thousands and thousands of interviews and it's always a privilege and an honor when people share their energy, humanity and ideas for progress, whatever the challenges. For those who think protests don't make a difference, what really ignited my fire for journalism was when I covered student-led protests in Indonesia in the late 1990s which eventually led to the toppling of a CIA-backed three-decade dictator. During that time, journalists were applauded as we went through barricades, which was nice for a change.
