Instagram Best of Continued: #EveryDayIncarceration
Searching the #documentary hashtag on Instagram I recently came across the impressive photographers' collective Everyday Incarceration "picturing the legacy of 40 years of mass incarceration." Different talented photographers briefly take over the feed and contribute with part of a specific documentary series, or single pictures with heart-wrenching stories in the caption, of going to, returning from, being in or trying to survive the enormous prison system we now have.
I once portrayed homecomer Eddie B. Ellis Jr. in the 2011 20 minute "Out For Good" documentary (trailer below) about trying to help close that revolving door. An update to my film is that Mr. Ellis, who after spending half his young life in incarceration, much of it in supermax conditions, is now a proud father who continues his advocacy to save futures.
