On the Right Side of History: Oklahoma's All-Black Towns

Happy Voting Day here in the United States! Our latest video at Struggle and Hope begins with a modern-day tribute to a former mayor in Redbird, Oklahoma, who fought for equal voting rights. It stars a current mayor who is fighting for the historical town's survival. We are releasing a short video about each of the remaining and often forgotten historical all-black towns in Oklahoma, while continuing work on the final feature film, which will have lots of action, blues music, ranching and courageous people working on the right side of history. The towns were set up as a haven away from oppression, and thrived until the demise of small towns across the United States, due to changing economic patterns, the end of railroads and recruitments for war.
