Recommended ... Waltz with Bashir

This movie uses animation for a memory documentary about young soldiers from Israel caught in the mayhem of Lebanon. The animation is extremely effective as it gives even more power to the voices slowly remembering and coming to terms with some of the horrors which they guarded on front lines and grew to muffle.

It also shows the complexities of the many layers of violence in the Middle East. It reminds me somewhat of the work of my favorite journalist, cartoonist Joe Sacco.
